Spring Newsletter – Canterbury LPA

Yes, it is that time of year when life seems to be bursting forth at every turn of the path.  And, once more, Joy Kingsbury-Aitken and Linda Cowan, of the Canterbury LPA, have produced another newsletter full of resources for Spring – prayers, poems, a call to worship, a meditation – for use on Flower Sunday as well as during Creation Season, beginning this coming Sunday, 1 September.

And, here, one small taste of the contents –

A Prayer and a Blessing

Two items extracted from the recent Canterbury Lay Preachers Association Newsletter for the Season of Creation have been added to our prayer resources page today.  One is a prayer of thanksgiving for companion animals, written by Joy Kingsbury-Aitken –

We thank you for the animals
who live with us as pets;
sharing their lives with us
and giving their affection to us, …

and the other is a blessing for Social Justice Sunday, celebrated on 25 September.

Celtic blessings, and the 2016 Season of Creation

Linda Cowan offers two Celtic blessings with the comment, “I thought a Celtic blessing might be good in the aftermath of Australian elections, Brexit, ISIS bombings and so on.  The first is written by John Birch. The second is sent tongue in cheek …. It tickled my fancy, …!”  These can be found together at the top of the Prayers page.
